Scott Carl Shoberg, age 53, passed away Sunday, September 14, 2025 in Duluth.   

Scott was born on July 11, 1972 to Stephen Charles and Susan Kay (Erickson) Shoberg in Duluth, Minnesota. He worked for the State of Minnesota for 20 years prior to becoming disabled in 2019.   

Scott had a larger-than-life personality and was one of the funniest people to ever live. He lit up a room like no other could, and if you met him for the first time you would feel like you’ve known him for years. He cared deeply about others. He was the goofy grandpa and uncle, and the kids loved him dearly. Many people commented that he was one of the nicest people they have ever met. He loved to fish, hunt, enjoy the wilderness, and be with family and friends. He loved to go out to lunch or dinner. Scott’s smile will never be forgotten.   

He is preceded in death by: Paternal Grandparents, Vernon C. and Dorothy Shoberg; maternal grandparents, Carl A. and Grace A. Erickson.  

He is survived by: Parents: Stephen C. and Susan K. (Erickson) Shoberg; wife: Brenda K. (Prause) Shoberg; brother: Paul Shoberg; sister Trudi (Cory) Albert; nieces; Athena and Adelyn Albert, step-children; Mandy and Danny; step-grandchildren: Madison, Ethan, and Olivia; step-nieces and nephews: Leah and Dean Prause; in-laws; Susan Prause, Jeff (Pam) Prause. 

The family would like to thank Hilltop Healthcare Nursing & Rehabilitation, Essentia Health Hospice and Dr. Gary Beaver and NP Sara McCumber of Essentia Health Neurology for their excellent care.   

In lieu of flowers the family is asking that memorials be given to a person or charity of their own choice.
