Rochelle Lunde Obituary

Rochelle Lunde departed this life peacefully on September 8, 2025, at Age 79. Rochelle was born April 21, 1946, she was the youngest of seven children and had six older brothers and she was the baby of the family and the only girl. After graduating from Wilson High School in St Paul, Rochelle met Jon Lunde, and it was love at first sight and they married the next year. Jon finished his Law degree and then they moved several times out of state for his various positions as an attorney. In 1973 Jon took a job in Red Wing as an attorney for the city and Rochelle decided to continue her education and went to the University of Wisconsin River Falls. There was a break in her schooling, as they moved back to St Paul. They started their family and had three children. Then she went back to school for the three-year nursing program and graduated from Lakewood Community College in June 1991 with a bachelor’s degree in applied science and became a registered nurse.


Rochelle worked at Golden Age Nursing Home for one year as the nighttime Clinical Manager and then went to Bethesda Rehabilitation Hospital in St Paul as a Prolonged Respiratory Care Unit for one year (PRCU), then worked there as a NBI Neuro Brain Injured Unit for 10 years. Then on to the GBU Medical, Geriatric Behavioral Unit for 2 years. These last three years she has lived in Sunrise Senior Living which recently changed to New Perspective. She was in her assisted living apartment where she made many friends and received excellent care for her needs as she started to fail.


Rochelle was widowed in 2001 and is survived by her three children, Holly Lindsey (Bill), Zachary Lunde (Jackie) and Kristofor Lunde and three grandchildren Cassy Vollhaber, Zachary Lindsey and Gavin Lunde. One brother, Bernie Ortt and many wonderful nieces and nephews.


She is preceded in death by her parents Robert and Virginia, her husband Jon, and her five brothers Jerry, Bob, Willard, Wilfred, and Mike Also, four sister-in- laws Barbara Ortt (Jerry)and Barbara Ortt (Bernie) Carol (Willfred) and Bona Ortt. (Mike).


Rochelle treasured her lifelong friendships, especially the group of high school friends who faithfully gathered for lunch every few months over the past decade and she made many new friends she enjoyed at Sunrise/New Perspectives. . Rochelle will be remembered for her laughter, friendships, and spirited opinions.


We wish to thank the staff at Sunrise/New Perspectives for their excellent care, comfort and compassion. We also wish to thank HealthPartners Hospice, who cared for her with sincere kindness during her last days. and special thanks to her PCA Stacy Agha who became her helper, shopper, driver and dear friend over the last five years


Celebration of Life will be held on Sunday, October 26, 2025, from 1:00 pm - 4:00 pm at the Cremation Society of Minnesota, 1979 Old Hudson Road, St. Paul, MN 55119


In honor of Rochelle, memorials may be directed to the charity of your choice.
