Margery “Marge” Cameron Johnson was born in the upstairs of a 2-story shotgun house in Wilmot, SD on May 17th, 1933. She passed on September 9th, 2025.  She was the third child born to John and Ada Cameron, joining her older siblings Jack and Joan. Sharon, the baby of the family, arrived 14 years later.

     Marge attended school in Minneapolis. She was fiercely independent, whip-smart and ended up working in a microbiology lab at the University of Minnesota. She walked and biked everywhere. Trolley money was much better spent on ice cream.

    Marge married Orrin Johnson in 1959, and they were married for 43 years. They had two children, Charles and Marilee. They raised their family in RIchfield - 2 kids, a dog and a cat. The hamster has yet to be found.

     Marge was the mom who made Kool-Aid, popcorn, and popsicles for the neighborhood kids. The more the merrier. She sewed clothes for her kids, their dolls, and the neighbor’s kid’s dolls. She could fix anything, make anything and solve anything. She was the Swiss Army knife of moms.

      She was blessed with four beautiful granddaughters in rapid succession, all arriving within 3 1/2 years. She tripped the odometer traveling from Lakeville to Minnetrista to catch all of the special moments. A quick pop of her trunk revealed an afternoon’s worth of entertainment - painting rocks, planting flowers. Marge was always prepared. Marge always had a shovel. Or three. She picked flowers, she picked lice. There wasn’t anything she couldn’t do.

     Marge was a lifelong learner. She graduated with her bachelor’s degree at the young age of 65. She loved art, gardening, astronomy, animals and birds. She loved swoon worthy Asian movies on Netflix, toffee, chocolate covered raisins and never met a jellybean she didn’t like. She loved starting her day with crispy bacon, orange juice (never from concentrate) and the daily paper.

Marge was preceded in death by her husband, Orrin, brother, Jack, and sisters Joanie and Sharon. Marge is survived by her son Chuck (Tracy), granddaughters, Kaylie (Spencer), Kara (Kyle), daughter, Marilee, granddaughters, Erin (Corbin), Megan, their father Chris, her brother-in-law, Dennis, and nieces and nephews - Deb (Randy), Becky (Ken), Dan (Afang), Ken, Tracy (Mali), and Chad (Chrissy).

A celebration of Life will take place on September 19th, 2025 at Mt. Olivet Lutheran Church - 5025 Knox Ave S, Mpls, MN 55419
