Marilyn Jean Stamos, 71, died Sunday, September 7, at Regents of Burnsville after a short battle with pancreatic cancer.

Marilyn was born March 2, 1954, in Minneapolis, MN, to Ted and Joyce Stamos.

Marilyn was a free spirit who enjoyed traveling across the country after high school with her many friends. She had a special love for traveling through the mountains out west.

Marilyn has always been an animal lover, dogs in particular, but managed to rescue several cats and share them with family members.

In recent years gardening brought great joy to Marilyn, and sharing the fruits of her efforts with others, such as an abundance of tomatoes, cucumbers, and green beans, brought her even greater joy.

Her daily walks were filled with adventure, and the treasures she would find along her walks, such as coins and the occasional dollar bill, brought her great joy as well.

Other than the years she spent traveling, Marilyn lived her entire life in south Minneapolis. She had some college education that led to working as a phlebotomist and a lab tech, but her joy came when she was waitressing—she spent many years working at the Lake Street Garage before it eventually closed—she loved the people she worked with and her regular customers and really enjoyed taking care of people.

Marilyn is survived by siblings Tom, Sharon, and Mike; sisters-in-law Julie and Diane; nephew Matt; niece Kaitlyn; Uncle Vic; many cousins; and numerous friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents.
