Linda Rae Latz Obituary

Linda Rae Latz (previously Keller, née Stone)

Age 77 • St. Cloud, MN

With love, sorrow, and deep gratitude for the life well-lived, we announce that Linda Rae Latz, previously Keller, née Stone, passed away peacefully at her home in St. Cloud, Minnesota, on September 8, 2025, while surrounded by loved ones. She was 77.

Born in Minneapolis, MN to George A. Stone and Dorothy L. Davis, Linda was the eldest child of seven. She studied at the University of Minnesota–Twin Cities before beginning her career as a Case Worker with Hennepin County, serving the elderly and disabled. Through her work, as well as her own life experiences, Linda embodied compassion, respect for others, and equity. She had an incredible sense of humor, and you could always count on Linda for a belly-laugh, a listening ear, or for her to regale you in a great story! She was sober for more than 40 years—a testament to her courage, resilience, and determination.

Linda loved fiercely and put family, especially her children, above all else. She enjoyed cooking, gardening, traveling, and different arts and crafts. She never shied from an adventure and knew how to make the most out of what life gave to her. In the early years of raising her children, Linda often relied on public transportation to get around, and if that meant taking full fishing gear onto the bus to take her children fishing, that is exactly what she did. Linda’s life was guided by a profound sense of justice and empathy. She was a lifelong advocate for the less fortunate, showing up at civil rights protests, donating generously to charities, and always offering an encouraging word to those who sought solace in her presence. She believed deeply in making the world a better place, and she lived those values every day.

As the longtime matriarch of the Stone family, her passing marks the end of an era and her presence here will be greatly missed. She leaves behind a family forever shaped by her love: her children, Michael P. Keller (Julie), Michelle M. Ewaysi (Seif), and Joseph A. Latz; her grandchildren, Matthew J. Butler (Alexis Redwolf), Alexandra M. S. Scheibelhut (Mark), and Amber R. Keller; her siblings Stephen Stone (Sheryl), Rebecca, and Randy Stone (Kimberly).

She also leaves behind her beloved nieces and nephews: Molly, Kenny, Jeremy (Adrienne), Erin, Bridgette, Amy, Randy “RJ”, Melissa (Jay), Christopher, Jennifer, Austin, and Emily, and many great-nieces and great-nephews. Your Auntie Leeda/Hoopah loves you eternally.

She was welcomed home by those she missed dearly: her soulmate Donald; her children Ronald, Richard, and Raymond; her parents, George and Dorothy; her siblings George “Georgie” Stone, Robert “Bob” Stone, Kristine “Kris” Stone; her nephew Michael Deason; and her sister-in-law and best friend, Kathy (Rosenberger).

Linda will be celebrated at a gathering on Saturday, November 22, 2025, at the Stearns County History Museum Meeting Room in St. Cloud, MN, from 1:00 to 4:00 p.m. (235 South 33rd Ave S, St Cloud, MN 56301)

All friends and family from near or far are warmly welcome to attend. If you are interested in attending and need help with details or lodging, please reach out to Linda’s daughter, Michelle at michelle.ewaysi@gmail.com
