Helen Hying Obituary
Helen Marie Hying passed away on September 8, 2025 at the age of 85. She has been a resident of Savage Senior Living at Fen Pointe since 2023.
Born June 4, 1940 in St. Paul, Minnesota, she lived in and around the Twin Cities all of her life. Fresh out of High School, she began working as a Secretary for the first 27 years. In 1985, she was hired by the United States Postal Service in downtown Minneapolis and spent the next 37 years as a Computerized Forwarding System Clerk.
She had a great passion for knitting, was an avid reader, and rescued many stray cats (and a few dogs), providing a safe and loving place for them to live out their lives. Her greatest joy came from providing for, and spending time with her family. She devoted her life to consistently putting them before herself.
Preceded in death by her parents, Raymond and Helen; sisters, Carol Bushong and Darlene Blair; brothers, Donald and Eugene. She is survived by her daughter Kym Duea and her husband Mike of Savage, MN, and her grandchildren, Jacob (Jessica), Emily, Jonathan, and Daniel.
A Celebration of Life with immediate family will take place in October.
The family wishes to thank the staff and caregivers at Savage Senior Living, as well as Brighton Hospice. Each and every one of them provided a caring presence and safe environment for Helen and the family during this difficult time. Helen battled Parkinson’s disease for many years with dignity and grace. She never let it get in the way of her work or her family. If you know someone who is also in this struggle and/or you would like to honor Helen, the family has asked that Memorial Contributions be made to the Parkinson’s Foundation, 1359 Broadway, Suite 1509, New York, NY 10018 or a charity of your choice.
