Wilson Monro Salter Obituary
Hi Dad,
I am glad you were able to make it for Mom’s birthday, August 23rd. It’s been 2 weeks and you are already missed by us all. I still think about checking on you, making sure you have your chicken, fluffy waffles, and some form of apple dessert. Kate brought some goodies back from Chicago with her to share; she paused to check for something with apples for you.
Fall is knocking on our door, football season - your favorite. Ducks are starting to fly, and Chris is getting ready for another hunting trip. I’ll miss making an elaborate duck dinner for you two. Golf is still being played, and driving past local courses reminds me of you and Mom.
I miss you every day, talking about another new book or what is going on in the world right now. It’s hard to remember your favorite stories you loved to share, meeting Mom at a mixer after both of you being pressured by roommates to just go and have fun. Your first date at the state fair, taking Mom through the poultry barn, and she thought a chicken looked particularly funny, “that’s because it’s a pheasant”. You running out of gas on Snelling Avenue.
I will miss you telling me how much you appreciate the help and care we gave you these last few years. I loved spending time with you; you are my dad through and through. Ever supportive, kind words of encouragement, and always a hug, and I love you. I think I will miss that the most.
Love you to the moon and back, Amy
