Raymond Joseph "Ray" Rosenberg Obituary

In the early morning fishing hours on August 29, 2025, Raymond (Ray) Joseph Rosenberg made his final cast with his loyal girl Tundra by his side.

Born on May 29, 1953, to Elizabeth (Lyons) and Theodore Rosenberg, Ray lived a life full of adventure, charm, and quiet wisdom. He proudly served in the United States Army from 1971 – 1973 and carried that resilience throughout his life.

Ray’s lifelong dream was to travel to every state in the U.S.—a dream he nearly fulfilled, missing only Hawaii. Known for his signature belt buckles, cowboy hats, and quick wit, Ray brought joy and laughter wherever he went. He lived what some might call a simple life, but to Ray, it was his best life.

Despite facing numerous medical challenges over the past twenty years, Ray never let the weight of possibility steal the joy from his days. With one of his beloved dogs Polar or Tundra always nearby, he found peace in nature—whether fishing in a quiet stream or hunting for agates along a dirt path. The woods were his sanctuary, his church.

Ray was preceded in death by his parents, Elizabeth, and Theodore Rosenberg; sisters Janice Brown, Jackie Bothun, and Laurie Rosenberg; his cherished dog Polar; and the love of his life, his first wife Karen.

He is survived by his brothers Theodore Rosenberg and Charlie (Nedra) Rosenberg; sisters Susan Buchannan, Harriet (Joe) Kent, Julie McCuen, and Jody Rosenberg; many nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews, and even a few great-great nieces and nephews, along with cousins and dear friends. Among them, his nephew Matthew Kent held a special place in his heart, as did his very best friend Tim Tjaden and loyal pup Tundra.

A celebration of life will be held at the VFW, 501 3rd Ave, Proctor, MN 55810, on Saturday, September 13th, from 2:00 – 5:00pm. All who knew and loved Ray are welcome to join in honoring his memory.

Ray always said it best, “Be cool man, be nice, Rock and Roll and PEACE!  Until we meet again.”
