Cathy Marie Gates (Hall), age 72, passed away on August 23, 2025, in Brooklyn Park, Minnesota.

Born on September 25, 1952, in West Mahoney Township, Pennsylvania, Cathy was raised in San Francisco, California. Her early years in the vibrant city helped shape her spirited personality and enduring sense of community.

Cathy dedicated much of her professional life to the telecommunications industry. She retired from the phone company in 2001 after a long and committed career. A passionate advocate for workers' rights, she was deeply involved with the Communications Workers of America (CWA) union. Her service as a union representative spanned many years, during which she tirelessly supported her colleagues and championed fair labor practices.

Family was at the heart of Cathy’s world. She is lovingly remembered by her son Rich (Jen), daughter Kris (Mike), and her cherished grandchildren Anthony, Parker, Connor, and Lily. She also leaves behind her brothers Mike (Judy) and John. Cathy was preceded in death by her parents, Richard and Leona Hall.

Cathy had a zest for life that touched everyone around her. She had a special fondness for giraffes and surrounded herself with reminders of these graceful creatures. Her love of travel took her to many places over the years, always seeking new experiences and memories. A devoted sports fan, she enjoyed cheering on her favorite San Francisco teams and sharing that enthusiasm with those close to her. Above all else, she treasured time spent with her grandchildren—each moment with them brought her immense joy.

May her memory bring comfort to those who knew and loved her. A Celebration of Life will be held on September 21, 2025, from 11AM to 3PM at Palmer Lake VFW 2817 Brookdale Dr. All friends and family are invited and welcome to join us.
