Richard “Dick” Lindeman of Edina, MN, age 98, passed away peacefully on Thursday, August 14, 2025, surrounded by his loving family, and is now reunited with his beloved wife, Beverly (Bev), who passed away ten months earlier. Born on September 25, 1926, Dick lived a long and full life devoted to family, service, and community.

Dick began his career in the Dental Industry while serving in the U.S. Navy during World War II, joking that he “fought the war against tooth decay.” From the time he was 16 until his retirement, teeth were his vocation. He first worked for his uncle as a dental lab technician and later became the owner of his own dental laboratory in Hopkins, MN.

Dick was a quiet man and somehow found himself in leadership roles throughout his life. From being voted class President at Patrick Henry High School, to being a Boy Scout Leader for many years. He was also a proud Mason for 64 years, a commitment that reflected his dedication to service, fellowship, and community. Then, throughout the later years of his life, Dick became a mentor to many and made a lasting impact on all who knew him.

While serving as Superintendent of Sunday School, Dick met Bev, who became his partner in marriage, service, and life for nearly six decades to come. Together they raised two children and built a family rooted in love, service and community.

In retirement, this lifelong city boy discovered horseback riding. He rode with the Zuhrah and Osman Shrine Horsemen, performing in many competitions and parades across the upper Mid-West. He developed life-long friendships and shared his enthusiasm for horses and his love of the outdoors. His favorite vacation spot was a dude ranch in Colorado where he and Bev would go to ride horseback with friends and on occasion, he would get to wrangle cattle. He also devoted his time and volunteered at the Hennepin County Home School, and for nearly 25 years at We Can Ride as an instructor, and along with Bev served as side-walkers and ambassadors. Their commitment to service was recognized in 1998 with the Eleven Who Care Award. In 2013, Dick was honored as the Minnesota Horse Council’s Horse Person(s) of the Year (along with Bev) for his long-term dedication and service to the equestrian community.

Dick was known for his calm, kind spirit and his ever-present sweet tooth. Dick enjoyed “happy hour” on the patio with neighbors, time with his children and grandson, conversations about football, politics, animals, weather, and birdwatching. A lifelong fan of the Minnesota Vikings and Golden Gophers, he never lost his enthusiasm for football, the outdoors and community life.

Dick is survived by his daughter Jane and her husband Dave, son James and his wife Stefanie, grandson Griffin, and grand-dog Lindy. He will be remembered for his steady presence, warm heart, and the love he shared with family, friends, and community.

A joint celebration of life for both Dick and Bev will be held at Mount Olivet Lutheran Church, 5025 Knox Avenue South, Minneapolis, MN 55419, on Tuesday, September 16, 2025, at 3:00 p.m.
