John Joseph Towey, a man of love and faith, passed away peacefully of natural causes on June 27, 2025, at the age of 94, in Edina, MN. Born on September 26, 1930, in Menominee, Michigan. John's life was a testament to the values of family, faith, and the joy of simple pleasures. 

John was a devoted husband to Dorothy, with whom he shared a beautiful and enduring love for 70 years. Preceded in death by parents Dr. John W. and Rega Towey, sisters Pat and Mary Rachel, and daughter-in-law Terri. His legacy continues through his children, John (Sandy), Beth (Jerry) Drangeid, Kevin (Gail), Kathleen (Brian) Murphy, and Anne (Kevin) McCoy, as well as his 13 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren, who will forever hold him in their hearts. 

A proud graduate of St. Thomas Academy and the College of St. Thomas, John's education laid the foundation for a life characterized by curiosity and a commitment to Christian values. His faith was the cornerstone of his existence, guiding him through life's challenges and joys with grace and humility. 

His love for golf and boating reflected his appreciation for life's simple pleasures and the beauty of nature. He could often be found on the greens or navigating the tranquil waters, always with a smile on his face and a kind word for those around him. 

Nothing brought more joy to John than gathering with friends and family. Those who knew him were touched by his loving and faith-filled spirit. He was a man who lived by example, showing through his actions the importance of kindness, generosity, and unwavering faith. He was an active member and volunteer at the Church of St. Patrick. His presence was a comfort, his laughter a joy, and his guidance a steady hand to those fortunate enough to cross his path. 

As we bid farewell to John Joseph Towey, we celebrate a life well-lived, a journey completed with love and dignity. He leaves behind a wealth of memories that will continue to inspire and comfort his family and all who knew him. John's spirit will live on, not only in the stories shared and the lessons taught, but in the quiet moments when the sun sets over the golf course or the boat gently rocks on the water, and we remember a life lived to the fullest. 

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Tuesday, July 8th at Church of St. Patrick, 6820 St Patricks Ln, Edina, MN 55439. Visitation will begin at 11AM with Mass to follow at 12 Noon.
