Helen Jane (Rossum) Leopold, of Red Wing, MN, passed away on May 31, 2025, at 94 yrs old. Born February 20, 1931 in Wahpeton, ND.

She was the daughter of Clifford and Erna Rossum.

She is Survived by her loving family and husband of 74 yrs, Daniel L. Leopold Sr.  Her children; Denise Teal (Jeff) Candler, NC, Robert Leopold (Debbie), Welcome MN, Paul Leopold (Dodie), Juneau AK, Don Leopold (Gary), Hastings NE, Daniel Leopold Jr (Joleen), Forest Lake MN, Jane Andrews (Dennis), Red Wing MN, Michael Leopold, Inver Grove Heights MN, Tom Leopold (Sharon), Hastings, MN. Sister Elaine Brady (Willard) of Grand Junction CO, 15 Grandchildren, 15 Great Grandchildren, and multiple nieces, nephews, and other family members.

After graduating high school, she attended the St. Paul Miller Hospital Nursing Program in the early 50’s and worked in multiple health care facilities until she retired in 1991. 

She enjoyed having lunches with the girls from nursing school, enjoyed playing games, reading, crocheting, playing golf and being in the kitchen preparing meals for her family. She carried the joy this family had over the years. Graduation parties in the garage, whipping up miracles in the kitchen, like salmon loaf, cooking duck, and Walleye dinners, sausage and sour kraut in the pressure cooker, and yes-Liver and Onions, Real spaghetti and homemade cookies, cookies, cookies, and always knew when someone was in the cookie jar.  Mowing the yard the old-fashioned way, with a real walk behind push lawn mower, the amount of time she spent paying attention to her home and family of eight children was a miracle.  This was all done while working in hospitals and nursing homes in the Twin City area.

She loved traveling with Dan to many different places, including to Texas in the winter months, and helped him with many tasks and events at the Izaak Walton League in Red Wing for 30 + yr’s

Funeral Service will be at St. Joseph Catholic Church, 435 W 7th St., Red Wing MN. Friday July 11, 2025. Visitation will be at 10:00am, Mass at 11:00am, with a luncheon to follow.

In-lieu of flowers, donations / contributions, can be made to the American Cancer Society or Charity of your choosing

Arrangements are under the direction of the Cremation Society of Minnesota
