Larry Houser Obituary

Larry Houser, age 73, of Zimmerman, MN, passed away peacefully on September 4, 2021, surrounded by his loving family. Born on February 2, 1948, in Tacoma, WA, to Johanna and Art Houser, Larry lived a life full of passion, love, and dedication to his family and hobbies.

Larry was preceded in death by his parents, Johanna and Art Houser.

Larry was survived by his beloved wife of 44 years, Patty Houser (Stephany), with whom he shared a deep and enduring love since they met in 1976 and married in March 1977. He is also survived by his sons, Bill Houser and Bob Stephany (Connie) as well as his six cherished grandchildren: Maria, Magan, and Broc Houser, Hannah Swirtz (Ethan), Bobby, and Zoey Stephany.

A 1966 graduate of Centralia High School in Washington, Larry began his career working on Boeing airplanes, showcasing his strong work ethic and mechanical skills. He became a true “Jack of all trades” from precise Machine Work to baking he was good at whatever he put his mind to. His true passion, however, was racing. Larry not only loved watching races but also working on cars, a craft he passed down to his son, Bob, helping him restore a 1966 Chevy Chevelle. This passion became a cherished family tradition, with his grandchildren Hannah, Bobby, and Zoey all racing at Brainerd International Raceway, creating memories that will live on across generations to come.

Larry also had a flair for cooking and baking, delighting his family and friends with his meatloaf, banana cream pie, breads, and many other delicious creations. His kitchen was a place of warmth and creativity, where he shared his love through food.

Above all, Larry was a devoted husband, father, father-in-law, grandpa, "UL," "unkie," and friend. His unwavering love for Patty was the cornerstone of their nearly five-decade partnership, a true soulmate connection that inspired all who knew them. His kindness, generosity, and humor touched countless lives, leaving a lasting legacy.

Larry will be forever loved and deeply missed by all who had the privilege of knowing him.

There will be a combined service on Saturday, July 12, 2025, from 1:00 PM to 5:00 PM at the American Legion in Zimmerman to honor Patty and Larry Houser, beloved by all who knew them. For flowers, cards and memorials, please send to Bob Stephany at 24735 143rd St NW, Zimmerman MN 55398
