Roseanne R Furst Obituary

Roseanne R. Furst May 7, 1980 – June 8, 2025

Roseanne R. Furst, age 45, passed away peacefully and unexpectedly on June 8, 2025, at Hennepin Healthcare in Minneapolis, Minnesota.

Born in Fridley, MN (Anoka County) on May 7, 1980, Rose was the daughter of the late Patricia Furst. She spent her growing-up years surrounded by a support system that included her mother, her foster family Greg and Linda Sherer, and a wider circle of family members and friends.

Rose graduated from Orono High School in 1998, where she was an active member of the tennis team. She continued her education at Kalamazoo College, earning a Bachelor of Arts degree in English with an emphasis in writing and a minor in Sociology. Rose later obtained a Hospitality Management Certificate from Cornell University and worked with the eCornell education program, where she brought her dedication and creativity to the field of learning and development.

Rose was a prolific and gifted artist and writer, refining her craft throughout her life through study, application, and volunteer work. Among her accolades, Rose was honored with first place in an Emerging Writers Competition, hosted by The College of St. Catherine. She also completed screen plays and numerous creative writing pieces. Her passion for bringing the arts into the realm of healing led her to begin pursuing a master’s degree in art therapy, uniting her artistic talents with her deep compassion for others.

Roseanne was open about her personal struggles with addiction and spent many years actively involved with various recovery communities. She was a fierce and resilient fighter for her sobriety, and her honesty and vulnerability helped inspire and support others on their own paths to healing. Her courage in facing life’s challenges head-on was a powerful part of her legacy.

Rose lived with heart and purpose. She was a radiant, compassionate soul who gave freely of her love, kindness, and creativity. Her generosity of spirit and commitment to helping others left an indelible impact on all who knew her.

She is preceded in death by her mother, Patricia Furst, and other friends and family members. Roseanne will be remembered with deep love, admiration, and gratitude by all whose lives were made brighter by her presence.

A celebration of Rose’s beauty, love, kindness, and creativity—and a time for friends and family to remember her legacy and the many lives she touched—will be held in the multipurpose room at Powderhorn Park in Minneapolis on Friday, September 5, beginning at 4 pm with a time of sharing at 5:00 p.m. All are welcome to join in honoring Rose’s life and sharing a memory of her.

Roseanne will be formally laid to rest alongside her mom, Pat Furst, in Rice, Minnesota, on Saturday, September 6. Details to follow.
