SHIRLEY ANN SAVOY | January 26, 1938 - June 17, 2025

Shirley Ann Savoy (Gregorich), 87, passed away in Duluth, MN on June 17, 2025 surrounded by her loved ones at Viewcrest Health Center after a long battle with Lewy body Parkinson’s disease and Dementia.

Shirley was preceded in death by parents Julian and Bernice (Jollensten) Gregorich; brothers Tracy and Gary Gregorich; and husbands Marvin J. Soderberg and Dennis L. Savoy.

She is survived by sister, Connie (Norm) Johnson; daughter Sherise (Richard) Morgan; son, Eric Soderberg; granddaughter, Lilia Morgan, and many other family members who loved her dearly.

Shirley was born on January 26, 1938 to Julian and Bernice Gregorich in Duluth, MN. She grew up in the Riverside neighborhood of Duluth, and attended school at Morgan Park where she graduated in 1956. Shirley married Marvin J. Soderberg in 1960. They were married for 24 years before he unexpectedly passed away. In 1985 she met Dennis L. Savoy who she would go on to marry the next year in Duluth.

During her life she also lived in St. Paul, MN; Huron, OH; Buffalo, NY; and Broomfield, CO; and ultimately ended up back in Duluth, MN that she would call her home for the rest of her life.

Shirley spent many winters with her loving husband Dennis in Arizona and some in Florida, where they would enjoy their retirement and spend time with friends they’d made. Together, Shirley and Dennis took numerous cruises around the world and enjoyed attending music and theatrical performances, and all social gatherings with family and friends.

While in Ohio, Shirley was President of Christian Women’s Club and sang with the Firelands Chorus. She worked for several law offices in both Ohio and New York, retired from the Duluth School District in the late 90s, and then began her next phase of life writing short stories. Through the years music was an important part of Shirley’s life as a member of both Duluth’s Carillon Chorus and the Westminster Presbyterian Church choir, while being a member of the parish. She was known as a “shop ‘til you drop” shopper and took numerous shopping trips with her two close friends and family, competing to obtain items at the best price possible!

Her family would like to acknowledge the staff and volunteers at Viewcrest Health Center and St. Croix Hospice for their care and compassion, especially after losing her husband Dennis last December.

Private graveside services will be held at Oneota Cemetery in Duluth, MN.
