REMEMBERING LUCIE TAYLOR 6.17.2025
TAYLOR, LUCIENNE (LUCIE) JONCURS
Lucienne Taylor died peacefully June 17, 2025, at Methodist Hospital with her husband and three children nearby. Lucie was born November 1, 1939 in Rochester, NY to Frank and Angela DiPonzio Joncurs who preceded her in death. She is survived by her husband Paul, daughters Cathy Taylor Berner (John Berner), Lisa Taylor, son Mark Taylor (Kate McCann) and three grandchildren Abby Berner, Zach Berner and Helen Taylor. Lucie and Paul were married in Rochester, NY on July 11, 1964 and enjoyed sixty-one years of marriage.
Lucie graduated in 1961 from Cornell University in Ithaca NY and went to work for the Xerox Corporation in Rochester NY. After marriage she continued with Xerox in Edina, MN until moving to Cos Cob, CT in 1966. Lucie and Paul returned to the Twin Cities for good in 1969. While raising her family with Paul, Lucie also stayed active in the community, particularly with the Junior League of Minneapolis for many years, including a term as President, and the Guthrie Theater for whom she served over ten years as a board member, including three years on the Executive Committee. In 1989 she returned to work full-time as Executive Director of the Minnesota Institute for Talented Youth (MITY). She received her Doctorate of Education from the University of St. Thomas in 1992.
After retiring from MITY in 2009, Lucie continued to support the Twin Cities community as an active volunteer with the Friends of the Ridgedale Library board and the Andersen Horticultural Library at the Minnesota Landscape Arboretum.
Lucie enjoyed quilting, gardening and reading, but most of all she valued her time with family, friends, neighbors and the Twin Cities community. Lucie was a great woman who positively touched the lives of many and will be deeply missed.
The family is planning a private memorial service at a future date. They request that memorials to Lucie Taylor be directed to the Andersen Horticultural Library at the Minnesota Landscape Arboretum.
