Arvid James Schmelzer Obituary

Arvid James Schmelzer Obituary

Arvid James Schmelzer was born November 1st, 1958, to parents Beverly and Orman (Bud) Schmelzer alongside his brothers Todd, Lonny, Orman Jr. and his sisters Sandra (Welsh) and Brenda (Lindgren) Schmelzer in Hibbing, MN.

Arvid James was one of six children who lived life to the fullest. He loved his family time, working on cars, watching NASCAR and the MN Vikings and Gophers whenever he could, grilling with the family to show who the master griller was with a nice 77 drink, along with listening to his classic rock and good ole country music and cannot forget his luscious locks. Arvid was gifted with 3 beautiful children Joshua, Amanda (Schulz), and Amber Jo Schmelzer. He loved his children like no other and without a doubt stood his ground no matter the circumstance to protect his family. Arvid is one of many Schmelzers who was more stubborn than a mule. If the man wanted something he made sure to get it and not accept anything less especially for his family. Many would say Arvid was a man of few words but when he did speak it was full of laughter, love, joy, and wisdom.

Arvid James Schmelzer joins his parents Beverly and Orman (Bud) Schmelzer along with his brother Orman Jr. (Linda) Schmelzer and his sister Brenda (Ted) (Lindgren) Schmelzer and his nephew Jeremy Schmelzer in God’s arms to continue to watch over all of us and guide us through this difficult time and be with us through the rest of our journey in life. Those of Arvid who are still present are his brothers Todd (Kelly) and Lonny (Sandy) Schmelzer, his sister Sandra (Patrick) (Welsh) Schmelzer, his children; Joshua (Vanessa) Schmelzer, Amanda (Brenton) (Schulz) Schmelzer, and Amber Jo Schmelzer, his wife Michelle (Shelly) Schmelzer, his grandchildren; Makaeyla Schmelzer, Garrett Frost, Harper Schmelzer, Alexis Schmelzer, Grayson Frost, Kaden Schulz, Kylie Schulz, Beckham Schulz, and Adeline Schulz along with many nieces and nephews, his best friend Frank (Mary) Harvotich and many other friends and family.

A beautiful soul is never forgotten and on our silent days we will all miss you a little louder. The hardest part of losing someone so dear to us isn’t saying goodbye but rather learning to live without them. Always trying to fill the void and the emptiness that’s left inside your heart when they go. Goodbyes are not forever or the end. They simply mean we miss you and we will meet again. Arvid’s guiding hands will forever remain on all our shoulders guiding us through the worst and the best times going forward today. As we are left with a heartache no one can heal, love leaves a memory no one will ever be able to steal. Those we love don’t go away; they walk beside us every day.

Arvid James Schmelzer will have a celebration of life hosted on July 12th, 2025, at Valentini’s Supper Club in Chisholm, MN at 12pm.

Please join us to celebrate this man we all knew as either a brother, a father, a grandfather, an uncle, and a great friend to many that touched each and every one of us throughout life in all different ways that none of us will ever forget.

“You never said “I’m leaving”. You never said goodbye. You were gone before we knew it and only God knew why. A million times we cried, if love alone could have saved you, you would have never died. In Life we loved you dearly and in death we love you still. In our hearts you hold a place that no one will ever fill.”
