Nora Breems, 75, of Cloquet, MN, passed away peacefully on June 6, 2025, with family by her side. 

Nora met her soulmate, Mike on July 20, 1969. They had 20,410 days, 8 hours and 22 minutes together. With over 55 years of marriage, they had many moves, car road trips, regular visits with their parents and family members and special times with their two daughters. Family time and making a home-made meal every day was very important to her. 

Nora was known for her love of cooking and to feed all that came to their home. The kitchen was never closed. She especially enjoyed making Christmas cookies and she was thoughtful in the wrapping and presentation of those gifts. In 2017, she put her recipes together and wrote her own cookbook, gifting them to some of the family. If you called to say you were coming to visit, she would excitedly talk about what she could make you to eat. 

Nora was very proud of her graduation from the American Indian OIC in 1994 as student of the year. It is at this time when she found the career path she was always looking for and started working for Carlson School of Management at the University of MN Minneapolis.  

Nora retired from Lloyd K Johnson Foundation in Duluth in 2015. She really missed working but got to spend more time cooking and even went on a 2,000-mile road trip to Arkansas and another road trip to Michigan with Mike and the girls in 2020. 

Preceded in death by her parents Mary Louise Villiard, Ralph Schafer and Leon Villiard; brother Archie Villiard; sister Sue Schafer. Survived by her loving husband, Mike Breems; daughters Lela Hanson, Angelique Farnung (Kenny); grandchildren Heather Hubert (Chev Arnold), Andrew LaFlamme (Emily) and Ashley Farnung; brothers Pat Schafer (Deanie), Paul Schafer (Camille); sisters Mary Ann Blacketter (Bruce), Crystal Randall (Chris), Rita Marczak, Amy Murphy (Bill); many nieces, nephews and cousins, her beloved companion, Lola, and the extensive Elvis collection. 

A Celebration of Life will be held Saturday, June 21, 2025 

12:00 - 3:00 p.m. 

Interment to follow at Old Holy Family Cemetery
