Robert Owen "Bob" Billington, 80, passed away on June 7, 2025, in Duluth, Minnesota. Born on November 15, 1944, in the same city he called home throughout his life, Bob left an indelible mark on those who knew him through his intelligence, work ethic, and generous spirit.

A proud graduate of Denfeld High School, Bob was a man of many talents and trades. Though he held a variety of jobs over the years, his true calling was in construction and operating heavy equipment. A self-described jack of all trades, owner and operator of Billington contracting for 38+ years, Bob approached every task with determination and skill. Whether maneuvering machinery or solving complex problems on the job site, he brought a level of dedication that earned the respect of colleagues and friends alike.

Bob's passion for machinery extended beyond his professional life. He had a deep love for equipment of all kinds and took great pride in his work. He was also a licensed pilot and an avid motorcycle enthusiast—interests that reflected both his adventurous spirit and technical acumen.

Those who knew Bob remember him as a remarkably intelligent man with an unwavering willingness to help others. His problem-solving abilities were matched only by his generosity; he never hesitated to lend a hand when someone was in need. His presence enriched the lives of many, and his absence will be deeply felt.

Bob is survived by his sister Susanne Nelson; Brother Alan Billington (wife) Nancy Roberts; Children -Robert Billington Jr., Chad Billington, Tommy Billington, Billy Billington, Winter Disch; Grandchildren-Tommy Jr and Destiny Melander, former wife Linda Disch. Also his morning coffee crew. He was preceded in death by his mother, Alice Irene "Rosvall" Billington and his father Erling Gustav Billington.

A memorial service to honor Bob's life will be held at a later date.

The world is a lesser place today without Bob in it. May his memory bring comfort to those who knew and loved him.
