Obituary of Marilyn Sellars Kuipers

It is with great sorrow that we announce the peaceful passing of Marilyn Sellars Kuipers of Edina.

Marilyn Esther Sellars was born on December 31, 1938, in Dundas, MN, to Paul and Bernice Sellars. She brought smiles to the faces and music into the homes of everyone she knew. Marilyn was a renowned and talented musician, inducted into the MN Music Hall of Fame in 2009 and best known for performing the original version of "One Day at a Time,” which peaked at No. 37 on the Billboard Hot 100 chart. In her later years, Marilyn enjoyed golfing and traveling the world with her husband of 42 years, Peter Kuipers.

Marilyn is survived by her brother Robert (Lou) Sellars; children Anne and Linda Case; grandchildren Kate (Will), Sara (Shawn), Grace (Dave), Laura (Ashley), Claire (Kody), James, Jack, and Peter,  7 1/2 great-grandchildren and many beloved nephews and nieces. Marilyn was predeceased by her parents, her husband Peter, and her daughter Cindy Lou Case.

A private service will be held. Memorial gifts in honor of Marilyn can be made to the Alzheimer's Association.
