Obituary of Maricarol Blixt Wallace

Maricarol Blixt Wallace
December 24, 1935 - June 5, 2025

Maricarol Blixt Wallace, affectionately known as “MC,” was born on Christmas Eve, a date that mirrored her vibrant spirit. Witty, charming, and beautiful, she lived life to the fullest.

A proud lifelong Minnesotan, Maricarol honored her Swedish heritage. She grew up in Minneapolis and graduated from Southwest High School in the class of 1953. She earned one of the state’s first Special Education Teaching degrees from the University of Minnesota in 1956 and later obtained a Master of Social Work degree in 1975. Maricarol dedicated her career to working with children and families at the Washburn Child Guidance Center until her retirement in 1995.

Maricarol met her husband, Jon, through her friendship with fellow Girl Scout Sally Wallace. They married on December 31, 1955, and together raised three children near Lake Harriet. After their children graduated, they moved to West Bloomington and explored the world, traveling to over 50 countries.

As a devoted grandmother to eight grandchildren, Maricarol cherished every moment with them, nurturing their passions and interests. Beginning with her early work with the League of Women Voters, she was a strong advocate for women’s rights throughout her life. In her later years, she discovered her talent for painting, creating cherished portraits of her family, though she never painted self- portrait.

In her final years, Maricarol faced the challenges of Alzheimer’s disease, yet her love for family remained a guiding light. She was predeceased by her parents, Arthur and Ruth Blixt, and her brother, Charles “Chuck” Blixt. She is survived by her husband, Jon; daughter Jennifer (Rick); sons Jay (Jana) and Chris (Marilisa); eight grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.

Maricarol’s vibrant legacy will continue to be cherished by all who knew and loved her.

The family will hold a private memorial.
