Obituary of Richard Olson
Richard “Rich” (Dick) Olson age 83 of Backus, MN passed away on June 3rd in Little Falls, MN.
Rich was born in Tomahawk, WI on Oct 23, 1941, to Leo Freeman Olson and Bonnie Bell Olson. He graduated from Monroe High School in St. Paul, MN, Class of 1960. During his high school years, Rich was an avid hockey player, proudly guarding the net as a goaltender.
He is survived by his two children: Rick (Christy) Olson, and Abbigayl Olson, and by his grandchildren; Brittany Olson, Ally Olson and Raelynn Olson. He also is survived by his brother; Jack (Sandy) Olson and many nieces and nephews.
Rich was a man of many passions. He loved fishing, deer hunting, gardening, canning, putzing in the yard, and bowling on leagues with his daughter, Abbi. But, most of all, spending time with her.
He is preceded in death by his parents Leo and Bonnie Olson; his sister Barbara Jean Smith, brother-in-law Bob Smith, his brother Earl; and sisters-in-law, Gerri Olson and Sandy Olson.
A celebration of Rich’s life will be held on July 26th at 2:00 pm at the Country Inn & Suites in Little Falls, MN
