Obituary of Kimberly Ann Hansmeier
Kimberly (Kim) Ann Hansmeier, age 58, passed away peacefully on May 30, 2025, after a courageous
battle with cancer, surrounded by those she loved most.
Kim was born to Casimer and Rita Ziwicki on August 31st, 1966. Kim graduated from Foley High School in
1984 and went on to earn her Licensed Practical Nursing degree from St. Cloud Technical College in
1985. She dedicated over 35 years of compassionate service to the VA Hospital in St. Cloud. During her
career, Kim also earned a bachelor’s degree in Health Information Management. Kim retired from the
Benton County Sherriff’s office.
On May 23, 1987, Kim married the love of her life, Loren Hansmeier. Together they raised three children,
and Kim also embraced the role of stepmother. Her heart was even larger than her household — she went
on to adopt five more children, building a family bound not only by blood, but by boundless love. She was
a proud grandma to six grandchildren and three step-grandchildren, a title she cherished above all.
Kim leaves behind a legacy of love, laughter, and unwavering compassion that touched everyone she met.
Her heart was immense — a place where family meant anyone who needed love, comfort, or a place to
belong. She was a devoted mother not only to her own children, but to many others who found strength
in her care and presence.
Kim’s love didn’t require a shared last name. If you needed her, she was there — fierce in her devotion,
gentle in her wisdom, and limitless in her giving.
A traveler at heart, Kim found joy in exploring the world — not just the sights, but the people and stories
that made life rich and meaningful. Whether across the country or across town, she always showed up:
present, genuine, and full of warmth.
Of all her roles in life, none brought her greater joy than being Meemaw. She delighted in every giggle,
every hug, and every shared moment, creating memories that her grandchildren will carry in their hearts
forever.
Kim’s strength, grace, and deep love will be missed by all who had the privilege of knowing her. Her spirit
lives on in the hearts of her children — by birth and by bond — and in the laughter of her grandchildren.
We say goodbye not only with sorrow, but with immense gratitude for having shared life with her.
Kim is survived by her lifetime companion, Loren Hansmeier; her children Mitchell (Billie) Hansmeier,
Michael (Heather) Hansmeier, Katrina (Roldan) Kabatay, Sophia (Justin) Houle, Mausue Hansmeier,
Cayden Hansmeier, Rihanna Hansmeier, and Richard Hansmeier; her stepdaughter Shannon (Brian)
Florip; and her siblings Susan Ziwicki, Daniel (Joan) Ziwicki, James (Leah) Ziwicki, Cathy (Gary)
Lombard, Linda (Bob) Johnson, and MaryKay (Rick) Frank. She is also lovingly
remembered by her grandchildren Ivan, Lorna, Luka, Nova, Marlie, and Luxton; her step-grandchildren
Paige, Meghan, and Chloe; two great-step-grandchildren; and many nieces, nephews, and great-nieces
and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Casimer and Rita Ziwicki; her sisters Leeann and Carol
Ziwicki, her sister of the heart, Laureen Huttunen; niece Jenna Ziwicki, nephew Tony Ziwicki, and her
beloved dogs, Mitzie and Niffer.
