Obituary of Janet Marie Talbot

Janet Talbot, age 93, passed away in her residence at the Presbyterian Homes of Bloomington.  She was born to parents Stewart and Ruth Carr in Saint Paul, Minnesota and graduated from Monroe High School in 1949.  Her first marriage was to Dean Holm, whose employment with Braniff International Airlines provided opportunities for travel and a move to Dallas, Texas.  She loved living in Texas but returned to Minnesota to marry Richard (Dick) Talbot.  They enjoyed driving around the country and spending winters down south.  After his death in 2001 she moved into The Gramercy Park Cooperative in Plymouth.  Her “little yellow cottage” became part of her community. In 2020 her health and limited mobility required moving to the Presbyterian Homes of Bloomington.

She was a strong-willed person who valued her independence.  Giving up driving was not her idea, and she never gave up wanting her car back!  She took pride in her tastefully decorated homes, and she was always dressed to impress, including her L’Oreal 350 British Red lipstick.  She worked in cosmetic sales in several department stores and sang in the church choir.  She enjoyed dining in fine restaurants, completing crewel embroidery, patriotic music and shopping.

She was the “favorite Aunt” to Roger, Gordie, Sue and Steve.  She was “Nonnie” to granddaughters Kara and Amanda and great-granddaughters Lilly and Paige.  She was also an honorary family member to Dick’s kids and grandchildren.  In her later years she spoke often of her mother and father.  With her until death were her daughters Lynne Jordan and Leslie Hyland.  Predeceased by parents and only sister Dorothy as well as both husbands.
