Obituary of Robert Richard Carlson, Jr.

Robert (“Bob”) Richard Carlson, Jr. passed away on Tuesday, May 27, 2025 at Park Nicollet Methodist Hospital, St. Louis Park, MN. Robert was born on July 27, 1945 in Minneapolis, MN to Robert and Bernice Carlson. He was a 1963 graduate of Washburn High School and 1969 graduate of the University of Minnesota-Twin Cities. He had a long career in the college bookstore industry, which included management positions at Hamline University, the University of Wisconsin, Portland State University and Ohio State University. Bob had a wide range of interests that included sailing, music (1960’s folk music, Bobby Vee, Elvis Presley and Crosby, Stills and Nash were among his favorites), the Indiana Jones movie series and caring for his cocker spaniel, Parker.

He is predeceased by his wife, Lizbeth, his parents and special family members, Helen Farnquist (grandmother), Philip Iverson (uncle), Marian Iverson Rolstad (aunt) and Linda Iverson Wright (cousin). He is survived by his two children, Marc (Michele) of Live Oak, CA and Jennifer (Aaron) Randolph of Powell, OH, and his four grandchildren, Matthew (Haley), Mitchell, Andrew and Claire. He is also survived by his brother, Richard, his niece, Savannah and nephew, Samuel (Diana).

A memorial service will be held on Saturday, June 14, 2025 at 2 PM at the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah’s Witnesses, 4400 4th Avenue South, Minneapolis, MN 55419. A reception at the Kingdom Hall will immediately follow the service.
