Obituary of Donna Rae Stein

Donna Rae Stein (Besch) passed away on May 23, 2025, at the age of 82. She was a resident of Bloomington, MN. Born in Algona, Iowa, she was the loving daughter of Raymond Besch and Ida Besch (Stoffel). Donna worked as a homemaker for many years and as a preschool teacher’s aide for over 20 years for the Richfield-Bloomington Early Childhood Family Education program prior to her retirement. She was also a member of St Edward’s Catholic Church in Bloomington for over 30 yrs, where she volunteered to run their local Loaves and Fishes, serving the hungry in the community. 

Donna was an amazing mother and grandmother and loved nothing more than spending time with her kids and grandkids, cooking, baking, eating, and laughing together. She enjoyed playing cards (Hand and Foot), boating, and camping. And she even loved blowing bubbles with her grandkids when they were little. Donna worked hard, but also stopped to smell the roses, especially enjoying her travels all over the country with her partner, Jerry. 

She is survived by her children, Kelly (Mike), Tammy (Jay), Tracy, Scott; grandchildren, Zach, Lauren, Jennifer, Daniel; siblings, Gary (Judy), Jean (Jim), Mary; sister-in-law, Dianne. She is preceded in death by her parents; brother, Richard; longtime partner, Jerry. 

The family would like to thank York Gardens, Edina, and Minnesota Hospice for their kindness and support in caring for our mother in her final years. 

Mass of Christian Burial will be July 10th, 2025, at 11 am with visitation from 10-11 am and a luncheon to follow mass at St Edward's Catholic Church at 9401 Nesbitt Ave S, Bloomington, MN 55437

In lieu of flowers, the family has asked that memorial contributions be made to Loaves & Fishes MN.
