Obituary of Glen Allan Freberg
Glen Allan Freberg, 77, passed away unexpectedly on May 9, 2025 due to complications from pneumonia in Duluth, MN.
Born on April 15, 1948, in Duluth to Arvid and Veva (Abrahamson) Freberg, Glen graduated from Denfeld High School in 1966. His creative spirit and eye for beauty led him into a lifelong career in floral design. He began at Engwalls where he cultivated his talent. Glen worked at Peterson Anderson Flowers and became an owner in 1978. He later moved to St Paul, where he continued at several shops including Flowers on the Park. Eventually returning to Duluth, he rejoined Engwalls until his retirement at age 75.
Glen’s work was an extension of his artistic soul. Whether arranging flowers or engaging in craft projects, painting, or diamond art, he brought color and joy to many lives. Known for being thoughtful and caring, Glen had a playful sense of humor that made him a jokester among family and friends. He was also known for his love of giving gifts, each one chosen with care.
He is remembered by his children: Cammie (Robb) Jezierski, Amy (Carl) Soderberg, and Eric (Mindy) Freberg; sister Linda (Jim) Suer; grandchildren Sophie and Luke Jezierski; Kelsey and Annabelle Soderberg; Alyson, Hannah, Abygail, and Aubry Freberg; niece Kirsten (Michael Tess) Suer; nephew Kyle (Justin Green) Suer; mother of his children Karen Anderson; as well as cousins, great-nieces and nephew, and friends. Toby, his cat, also held a special place in his heart.
Glen was preceded in death by his parents.
The family extends heartfelt thanks to the staff at Edgewood Vista and the Essentia Health Critical Care providers and nursing staff for their compassionate care.
A Celebration of Life will be held on Sunday, June 8, 2025 at the Cremation Society of Minnesota located at 4100 Grand Ave in Duluth. Visitation will begin at 2 PM, with a service at 3 PM and luncheon to follow.
