Florence Booker

Obituary of Florence Anne Booker

Florence Booker, 98, of Superior, passed away Saturday May 17, 2025 in the comfort of her home, surrounded by the love of her family.

Florence was born in Chicago, Il on October 25, 1926, the daughter of John and Rose (Gill) Cebulski. She married Andrew Booker on December 18, 1944. They lived most of their lives on their farm in Summit. Florence and Andrew had 6 children, Twins Andrew Jr. and Tony, Yvonne who died as an infant, Frank, John and Evonne. Her children were the center of her world. She worked as a waitress at Cronstrom’s Supper Club for many years, interacting with various individuals and collecting numerous stories.

Florence enjoyed gardening. She had an amazing garden with an abundance of flowers and vegetables that she shared with family and friends. She always had a fix for a multitude of different ailments and never met a wound or sore joint she couldn’t fix with enough liniment. Florence also loved the holidays. She would fix lavish holiday meals for her family and anyone else that needed a home to celebrate in. Her door was never closed to others, and she was always willing to sit down and catch up over a cup of coffee. Florence was an avid hunter and if she wasn’t hunting, she enjoyed hosting hunters. She was an animal lover and shared her life with many dogs and cats over the years.

Though she had no filter and a scowl that could curdle milk, those who knew her best knew that behind her gruff demeanor was a woman who loved fiercely. This love was shown in a variety of different ways – unsolicited advice, reminders to wear a hat and jacket, pierogi, and, because she was a devout Catholic, many, many prayers.

Florence was preceded in death by her husband, Andrew; children Yvonne, Andrew Jr, and Evonne (Scott) Bodahl: Grandchildren Karrie Ann Booker, Brian Booker and Mark Booker; and Great grandchild Nathan Myers.

Florence is survived by her children Tony, Frank (Michele) and John: Grandchildren Mike (LaNae) Booker, Kim Nelson, David Booker, Nikki Booker, and Sunshine (Josh) Hanevik; Daughter-in-laws Sharin Karlstad and Linda Booker; chosen daughter Nell Loughren; her great grandchildren, great-great grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews.

Florence lived a long and fruitful life and will be missed by many. She requested that no public gathering be held in her honor. If you would like to honor Florence, please consider donating to your local animal shelter, inviting someone over for a cup of coffee or planting some flowers, especially ones that would attract hummingbirds. The family would like to give their heartfelt thanks to Essentia Health’s Hospice Department. The care they gave was excellent, and it made this difficult time a little easier.
