Arthur Ward Schuster, age 87 of St. Louis Park, MN, passed away peacefully on May 18, 2025.
Ward was born May 28, 1937, in Minneapolis, MN, the son to Arthur and Margaret Schuster (Ward). At age 11, Ward's family moved to Marshall, MN where he went on to graduate from Marshall Central Catholic High School. After high school, he attended University of Notre Dame where he ran track. He later transferred to Carleton College where he participated in both track and football before graduating with an economics degree and a teaching license. Ward taught history and economics at both Hill High School and Cretin High School before spending 30 years at Wayzata High School. Ward received many honors as a talented football and track coach, but was most proud of the relationships he built and the role he played in the lives of his many athletes.
Ward married Barbara Lynn LeVasseur on June 8, 1968, in White Bear Lake, MN. They settled in St. Louis Park, MN where they raised their three daughters. Ward cherished time with his family, especially when it was spent at their cabin in Crosslake, MN. He will be remembered for his love of sports, stories of his childhood and most importantly, his love for the church and his family.
Ward is survived by wife Barb, daughters Maggie Schuster, Becky Schuster and Angela O’Keeffe, and grandsons Seamus and Braden O’Keeffe.
