Obituary of Joan M. Seymour

Joan M. Seymour (Glapa), 89, of Duluth passed away peacefully at Viewcrest Health Center on May 9, 2025.

Joan was born in Duluth, MN on August 6, 1935 to Charles and Laura Glapa. She was united in marriage to Richard Seymour on September 22, 1953 and they spent 53 wonderful years together before his passing in 2007.

Joan was employed and retired from Woodland Hills after many years. She graduated from Denfeld High School in 1953. Joan loved being outdoors camping, fishing and hunting at their shack. She enjoyed baking, gardening, sewing, knitting, reading, traveling and playing volleyball. Joan loved knitting a pair of mittens every day and donated them to the Salvation Army every year for many years.

She is preceded in death by her parents, husband Richard, brother Jerry and her son Todd.

Joan is survived by her children, Zandy Engelhart, Scott (Julie) Seymour, Valerie (Gary Tesser) Seymour and four grandchildren, Jamie Seymour, Jennifer (Dan) Cannon and Jason and Peter Engelhart, two great grandchildren, Isabella and Levi Cannon.

A special thanks to all the staff at Viewcrest Health Center for the kind and compassionate care they gave her.

She will be sadly missed by all those who knew and loved her. As per her wishes, no service will be held. Arrangements by the Cremation Society of MN, Duluth.
