Obituary of Margaret Rita Reilly

Margaret “Peggy” Rita Sheerin Reilly, aged 88, passed away peacefully on May 1, 2025. Born on May 19, 1937, in New York, Peggy's life journey took her from the bustling streets of New York to the serene landscapes of Colorado, where she raised her children, and finally to Minnesota, where she spent her later years.

After dedicating her early years to raising her children, Peggy capitalized on her talent for striking up conversations with anyone. Working at a local bank in Denver, she was able to keep track of all the comings and goings in her Park Hill neighborhood. She then discovered her passion for retail, thriving in her role and making many lifelong friends while working at various boutiques on 50th and France in Edina.

Peggy is survived by her loving family: her oldest daughter, Nora, and her husband, David; her son, Daniel, and his wife, Nancy; her son, Cavan, and his wife, Susan; and her son-in-law, Mike. She was a proud grandmother to five grandchildren: Beryl, John, Elizabeth, Hope, and Grace. Peggy was preceded in death by her devoted husband, Timothy; her daughter, Megan (Mike’s wife); and her son, Timothy.

An avid reader, Peggy meticulously tracked every book she read, with her favorite author being Joyce Carol Oates. Her favorite book was always the last one she had read, and she delighted in sharing her extensive library with friends and family. Peggy's generosity knew no bounds; there was always an extra seat at her dinner table and an extra bed in her home. She loved to spoil her children, nieces, nephews, and grandchildren. Her storytelling was legendary, and she never let the truth get in the way of a good story.

While Peggy was no longer a practicing Catholic and had no desire for a formal funeral service, she found comfort in the thought of following the Pope into the beyond, with her version of a Martini—just vodka—waiting for her. As she did with every milestone in her life, her wish was for her death to be celebrated in the same way—with a big party.

For those fortunate enough to meet Peggy, you know she was unforgettable. She will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her.
