Obituary of Judith Beverly McGaffey

Judith Beverly McGaffey, age 80, passed away April 24, 2025 at St. Luke’s Hospital in Duluth.

Judy  was born in Duluth, MN on September 20, 1944, the daughter of Christopher and Betty Fahrwald.  She graduated from Morgan Park High School, Class of 1983.  Judy married Richard McGaffey on February 19, 1966; together they had one son, Steven R. McGaffey.

Judy loved camping, visiting Door County, Wisc, dogs, gardening, crafting, and get-togethers at Christmas with friends was always a favorite time.  Attending church was a big part of her life and she was a firm believer in the power of prayer.

Judy is survived by her loving husband Richard of 59 years; son, Steven; six grandchildren, Olivia, Sophia, Gretta, Samuel, John and Joseph; nephews, Chad Sorenson, Bruce Hagberg, Chris Hagberg and Brian Hagberg.

She was preceded in death by her parents; two sisters, Betty Kennedy and Linda Sorenson; and her daughter-in-law, Joelle Franz McGaffey.

Visitation will be 1:00 pm until the 2:00 pm Memorial Service on Thursday, May 22, 2025 at the Cremation Society of Minnesota, Duluth, 4100 Grand Avenue, Duluth, MN.
