Obituary of Lucy Jean Kirk
Lucy “Momma Lucy” Kirk, age 81, of Edina, Minnesota, passed away peacefully in her home, surrounded by her loving family.
Lucy dedicated 31 years of service to JCPenney, retiring in 2009. During her career, she was honored with numerous top-tier awards for her exceptional customer service and sales performance. While working in the Traditional/Women’s Department, Lucy was known for her radiant smile and warm, cheerful spirit. To everyone who met her, she was affectionately known as Momma Lucy, and she lovingly called everyone her “Baby Cakes.”
In retirement, Lucy found joy in caring for her great-grandchildren from infancy through toddlerhood. She continued to shine as the fashionista her family and friends always admired.
Lucy is preceded in death by her parents, John T. and Mary F. Franklin, and her brothers James and Howard Franklin. She is survived by her brother Johnnie Franklin; daughters Brenda (Stanley) Harris and Yolonda Armstead; granddaughters LaGina Ryan, Jonte’l Leek, and LaNikitah Harris; and great-grandchildren MyKenzie Ryan (“Pretty”), Annabella Griffin (“Bella Pooh”), and Aiden Griffin (“King”). She is also lovingly remembered by her best friend Carol Tibbs of Gary, Indiana, and a host of other devoted relatives and friends.
Lucy’s legacy of love, laughter, and style will forever live on in the hearts of those who knew her.
