Mary Pensak Obituary

Mary Pensak, 75, of Duluth, MN, passed away peacefully in her home on April 7th 2025.


She was born September 22nd 1949, to Mark and Valerie Curtis.  Mary graduated from Central High School in 1967. 


Mary was a woman of many talents and had successful careers as a professional tailor, running a home daycare, appraising classic cars for her auto appraising business, phone operator, legal secretary at a law office and ended her career as an educator and volunteer coordinator at the Great Lakes Aquarium.


Mary loved adventure and enjoyed many hobbies. Thrifting and antiquing, gardening, travel, Twins baseball, game nights, Star Trek, watching the ships sail under the bridge in Canal Park, playing cribbage with her sisters, and spending as much time as possible with her family. 


Family was Mary’s greatest joy.  She loved them fiercely and they loved her equally in return. 


Mary is survived by her daughters Lynn (Brent) Gorder & Michelle (Jeff) Schlemmer, Sisters JC Lyons Curtis, Pat (Don) Feiro & Joey (George) LaFont.  Grandchildren Phoenix (Devin) Stocke, Kanen (TyMarie) Dyrys & Emily Schlemmer. Great Grandchildren Zephyr Stocke, Ódinn Stocke, & Amora Dyrys. Along with many nieces and nephews, great nieces and nephews, cousins, extended family, and friends. 


Mary was greeted in heaven by her loving husband Tom Pensak, her parents Mark and Valerie Curtis, & Sister Barb (Dave) Bretz.
