Obituary of Bounmy Pathammavong

Bounmy Pathammavong, age 61, of Champlin, Minnesota, passed away peacefully on Thursday, April 17, 2025, at Mercy Hospital in Coon Rapids, Minnesota.

Bounmy was born on August 5, 1963, in Laos. During the Vietnam War, he immigrated to the United States in search of safety and opportunity, eventually settling in Minnesota. It was there that he met his life partner, Kelly Kolodge, and embraced a new chapter as a father figure to her two children. Together, they raised four more children.

He worked for many years at Select Foods in Albert Lea, Minnesota. Despite facing ongoing medical challenges that led him to relocate several times, Bounmy remained active and full of spirit. His final residence was a Lao-based assisted living facility, where he found joy in fishing, boat rides, shopping trips, and other simple pleasures that brought him peace and happiness.

Bounmy was preceded in death by his parents in Laos.

He is survived by his life partner, Kelly; and children, Chelsea (Levon), Caleb (Alex), Caitie (Braeden), Colby, Cydney, and Corbin.

A family gathering and Buddhist memorial service to celebrate Bounmy’s life will be held. Further details will be shared with family and friends.
