Obituary of Mary A. Holland

Mary A. Holland, age 87. Born Feb. 21, 1938 in Mankato, MN and died April 23, 2025 in Eagan, MN. 

She was a devoted wife, mom, grandma and friend. She was kind, loving, and grateful. She was fun, artistic, generous, sentimental and courageous. She hugged. She was proud of you. She had a wicked sense of humor. She was a gracious hostess who set the most beautiful tables. She loved music and theater and was an accomplished pianist, singer and actress. She wrote thank you notes. She told you you were beautiful. She could spot a typo a mile away. She won a lot of Scrabble games. She made the best chocolate cake. In the last few years she suffered, but she never complained. We will miss her terribly, but we have lots of reasons to remember her with deep love, gratitude and a smile. 

Preceded in death by parents O.H. “Salty” and Lily Comstock and sister Colleen Lindblom. Survived by her high school sweetheart and husband of 67 years, Jim, children Lisa Hoene (Dan), Julie Connell (Tom), Matt (Christine); grandchildren Grace (Skye), Will, John (Katie), Jimmy, Jack and Jay (Maddie); great grandson Brooks; brother and sisters-in-law, and many nieces, nephews and cousins.

There will be a private family service at 1:00 on Sat., May 10, followed by an open house Celebration of Life from 2:00-5:00 at The Shoreham, 3030 France Ave. S. Please join us.
