John Scott Wright, age 73 of Apple Valley, passed away surrounded by his devoted family on Tuesday, April 15th, 2025.

He is preceded in death by his mother, Maria Wright (Murphy).
John was an only child growing up and he met Joy when she was only 16. They became high school sweethearts and John was welcomed into her large family from the beginning. Throughout the 54 years of being married, he embraced the role of a family man and became the quiet leader of this growing family. John was a financial planner until he retired from the business. He took a little time off, then decided retired life was not for him and found himself as a maintenance supervisor for 13 childcare facility in the twin cities area. He was working fulltime until he ended up in the hospital at the beginning of April. He was such an attentive husband and a role model for us all. He was our biggest supporter. From all those years my brother and I have spent countless hours in the pool, traveling the country to cheer us on and watching us compete. When John became a grandpa in 2002, he held the title of “The Best Papa in the World”. He continued to hold that title, as the youngest was born in 2016. The quiet supporter, being at any event that the grandkids were at, which brought him so much joy.
John touched the lives of so many people. He had a way of making everyone feel like family and was a father figure to countless individuals. He was the most unselfish human being we have ever known, always putting the needs and well-being of others before his own.
He loved his family with his whole heart, his belly laugh was one of a kind, that made you laugh right alongside him and has a tender soul. He will be greatly missed by many. We love you papa!
Come join us on Monday, June 9th from 5-8pm for Johns’ Celebration of Life will be held at John Hennen Pavilion at Antler’s Park, Lakeville, MN.
