Born March 20, 1962, in Minneapolis, MN to Robert (Bob) and Barbara (Barb) McPherson. During his youth he lived in Kansas City, KS, then to Houston, TX, and in 1978 the family moved back to Minnesota. Greg never let go of Texas! He had so many wonderful memories growing up there and great friends.
At age 16, he started working in the commercial furniture business (“Furniture Schlepper” as Greg would say smiling). Working in multiple buildings in the Twin Cities and surrounding areas, he developed some wonderful, lifelong friends, and met his wife, Lois. He loved the variety in his job and meeting so many people, always wanting to make someone laugh. Intended to be a temporary job, he became a contractor, and after 42+ years moved on to other adventures. Many people remember Greg for his wittiness and attention to detail, which he put into everything he did.
Greg and Lois were united in marriage on May 22, 1993, and had a deep love for each other and their two sons, Scott and Geoffrey. As a family, and couple, they had a lot of wonderful and fun times together! He loved spending time with his family in everyday life, events, travel adventures, car rides, laughing, music and creating the best experience while doing it. He was very happy to be a grandpa and wanted to be a part of their lives. God had other plans. His gentle spirit, wittiness, ability to listen to others, and love for everything he did, will be missed by everyone who knew him.
A book could be written on Greg’s passions, he had so many! As a family we were involved in all of them. Making people laugh was most important, encouragement, music, concerts, working on projects with music turned up to an 11, Longhorns, sports, working in the yard, relaxing, flea markets, garage sales, road trips, driving, car shows, old cars, fast cars, Mexican food, a good beer, the list goes on; he was never short of any conversation, as he was knowledgeable on so many things. Greg was “the guy in the room!”
As we all grieve Greg leaving us, the best gift of all was his love for his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, which he spent the past four (4) years deepening, as he valiantly battled his health. We deeply miss him yet look forward to living with him in heaven someday!
Greg is preceded in death by his mother, Barb McPherson; father and mother-in-law, Marty and Mary Lueth; grandparents, Dorothy McPherson and Earl and Jean Helwig.
Greg is survived by his loving family: wife, Lois; children, Scott McPherson, Geoffrey (Gabi) McPherson; grandchildren, Kathleen Mary and Ulysses Gregory; father, Bob McPherson; brother, Mark (Ann Boyner) McPherson; as well as many other family and friends.
