Obituary of Terry Bruce Turvold
Terry Bruce Turvold, a beloved husband, father, grandfather, and friend, passed away peacefully on April 15, 2025, at the age of 78. Born on August 25, 1946, Terry lived a life rich in love, laughter, and cherished memories.
Terry was united in marriage to his devoted wife, Shirley Barbara Ferley, on October 16, 1971. Together, they built a beautiful life filled with joy and family. Terry was a proud father to his two children, Dustin, born September 26, 1974, and Dayius, born April 26, 1977. His greatest joy came from watching his children grow, supporting them as they raised families of their own, and attending the many activities of his seven beloved grandchildren: Ellie, Tyler, Ava, Sawyer, Ashton, Lylah, and Adde.
Like many of his peers, Terry willingly accepted a Draft notification into the Army during the fall of 1966, which included a Combat tour in Vietnam. After having served our great Nation, he was honorably discharged from military service in July of 1968. A truly dedicated employee of the United States Postal Service, Terry served as a rural letter carrier until his retirement. His work ethic and commitment to service were a testament to his character, reflecting the values he instilled in his family.
Terry had a passion for the simpler pleasures in life. He found joy in tinkering in his garage, where he nurtured his love for old cars. He also cherished quiet moments spent fishing and feeding the local wildlife, embracing the beauty of nature around him. His steadfast faith was a cornerstone of his life, and he was an active member of Newport Lutheran Church, where he held several key positions over the years, contributing to the community he loved.
Terry is preceded in death by his father, Ernest (Jim), his mother, Viola, and his brothers, Gary and Leallyn (Lee). He leaves behind a legacy of love and strength that will continue to inspire his family and friends. He is survived by his beloved wife, Shirley; his son, Dustin, and his wife, Jackie; his daughter, Dayius, and her husband, Dan; and his cherished grandchildren.
With a life well lived, Terry will be remembered for his kindness, his unwavering support, and the love he shared with all who knew him. He will be deeply missed but forever cherished in the hearts of those he touched. May he rest in peace.
