Bernardine (Nichols) Michaletz, age 96, passed away on April 21, 2025, at Parks’ Place Memory Care in Plymouth, Minnesota. Bernie was known at Parks’ Place affectionately as “the singer.” The last song she sang was on Friday, April 18, when she sang “Jesus Loves Me” in the dining room. As Bernie left Parks’ Place on April 21, the staff gathered around her in farewell by singing “Jesus Loves Me.” 

Bernie was an orphan at the age of 10 and the oldest of five children. She made it her job to keep track of her siblings. Family was very important to her then and continued to be throughout her life.

Bernie was an avid reader and sports fan of the Twins and Vikings. Bernie, a long time employee at Sears in Maplewood, retired at 87 years old!

Bernie was preceded in death by her son Raymond A. Michaletz, husband Raymond H. Michaletz, and daughter-in-law, Jennifer Michaletz.

Survived by son Robert (Carol); daughter Michelle (Tom); son James (Sherri); son John (Cindy); and son Ron. Grandchildren: Rob (Tammy), Ryan (Esther), Christine (Eduardo), Andrea (Joey), Eric (Erika), Sean, Jesse, and Travis (Laura). Great grandchildren: Colin, Camryn, Maddie, Liam, Natalia, Luca, Theo, Eva, Rowan, and John.

Bernie was an active member of St. Odilia’s Church in Shoreview, where services will take place on May 23, 2025. 10:00 Visitation, 11:00 Mass, followed by luncheon.
