Obituary of Grant Daniels Olson
With deep sorrow and profound love, we announce the unexpected passing of Grant Daniels Olson on April 16, 2025, at his home in Minneapolis, MN. Grant's sudden departure has left an immeasurable void in the hearts of his family, friends, and everyone privileged to have known him.
Grant was a beacon of kindness and had a beautiful soul, always the first to lend a helping hand to those in need. His welcoming nature radiated warmth, and his quick wit and humor could light up any room. Grant’s smile was truly contagious, and his striking blue eyes brought comfort and peace to everyone he met.
Gifted with a natural ability to connect with children, Grant especially treasured the time he spent with the kids in his family. Grant spent a considerable amount of his free time with his nieces, nephews, and cousins, sharing his passions with them; he loved to watch each grow. His love for them was deep and unwavering, a reflection of the boundless compassion he carried throughout his life.
One of Grant’s greatest passions was RC car racing, a hobby he embraced from the time he was a young boy. His love for racing took him across the country, where he not only competed but built lifelong friendships. The RC racing community became an extension of his family, and the bonds he formed through his travels were some of the most meaningful relationships of his life.
Grant is preceded in death by his father, Rhett Olson; grandmothers Ramona Olson, Joyce Kolb, and Gloria Fearing; and grandfathers Robert Olson and Charles Murry. He is survived by his grandparents, Ronald Kolb and Donna Murry, his loving parents, Ronda and Tim Murry; his devoted sisters, Ashley Olson (Mike) and Haley Pride (Matthew); and his cherished nieces and nephews, McKenna, Hunter, and Aiden. He also leaves behind a large extended family of aunts, uncles, cousins, and countless friends who will carry forward his memory and spirit.
A Celebration of Life will be held on Tuesday, May 6, 2025, at First Memorial – Waterston Chapel, 4343 Nicollet Avenue, Minneapolis, MN 55409. Visitation will begin at 11:00 a.m., followed by a service at 12:00 p.m. Interment will take place at 3:00 p.m. at Lakewood Cemetery.
We invite everyone to share a favorite memory of Grant in a memory book that will be available at the service — a small way to celebrate the profound impact he had on all of us.
Though our hearts are heavy, we find comfort in knowing that Grant’s legacy of kindness, humor, and love will live on in each life he touched. His spirit remains with us, always.
