Obituary of Edith Torin Cohen

Edith Torin Cohen died peacefully in her sleep on April 15th, 2025 of natural causes at 94 years old. Born January 26, 1931, she was married to Stephen L Cohen (deceased) in 1952. She is survived by three children, Susan, Michael (Sheryl) both of Pittsburgh and Lisa (Amy) in Saint Paul, MN. She has two grandchildren, Ned (Selom) in Saint Paul, M and Ruth attending U of Wisconsin Graduate school of Economics, She also has a step grandson Carl Kasper(Brittany) and a great grandson Walter.

Edith was a graduate of Allderdice in the late 1940’s and attended Pennsylvania College for Women (now Chatham University) for several years. Among her career choices, she started doing interviews for NORC, (National Opinion Research Corp in the late 60s; was a counselor at Women’s Health Services; worked at the Center for Victims of Violent Crime; and was an administrator at the Physics Department at the University of Pittsburgh. Politically active, Edith was a longtime member of the 14th Ward independent Democratic Club.

There will be no service. Donations in her honor should be made to Planned Parenthood.
