Obituary of Robert Edward Rohling
Robert “Rob” Edward Rohling, of Eden Prairie, MN passed away peacefully on April 9th, 2025, at the age of 65 after a courageous battle with cancer.
He was born September 9th, 1959, in Omaha, Nebraska. He proudly attended Creighton Prep High School where he met many lifelong friends. He then attended St. John’s University in Collegeville MN graduating in 1982.
Rob worked in the insurance industry for 40 years prior to his upcoming retirement this spring. He had a successful career spending 24 years at Mutual of Omaha (where he found his way back to Minnesota) followed by Prudential Insurance Company and Ochs, Inc. Ending his career at Ochs, where their motto of work and family truly shinned through, was so fitting as their care and motto aligned with Rob’s values.
His interests included all things sports. Rob spent the last 25 years playing and coaching his girls in soccer. Rob and Kim spent a lot of weekends watching football games, watching and playing golf and riding their bikes. They developed a newfound love for pickleball, playing as much as possible with friends. Following in his dad’s footsteps, Rob also had an interest and appreciation for cars. However, his true passion was being on the water. Growing up Rob and his family would spend summer weekends on Woodcliff Lake. His most treasured time on the water was spent at Lake Okoboji. Many special family memories were made there including teaching his daughters how to drive their boat, pulling his nieces and nephews on the tube, and sunset happy hour rides. Aside from traveling to the lake, Rob and Kim loved to travel and explore new places.
Rob was preceded in death by his parents Robert “Bob” Rohling (1987), Lois “Dolly” Rohling Simpson (2017), Fredrick “Fritz” Simpson (2014), and father-in-law George Stockamp. He will be deeply missed by: Spouse Kim Rohling, daughters Raegan and Katherine “Katie” Rohling, siblings, Julie Connor (Keith), Rebecca “Keta” Braggins (Rob), and Tom Rohling (Anne), mother-in-law, Judy Stockamp, sisters-in-law Cheryl (Shane) Morris and Tracy (Troy) Jason, wonderful nieces and nephews, and copious amounts of lifelong friends.
A special Thank you to the staff and wonderful nurses at N.C. Little Hospice in Edina MN as their care and compassion for Rob and his loved ones was truly a blessing.
Services will be held at Mount Calvary Lutheran Church in Excelsior, MN April 25th with Visitation at 2pm, Service at 3pm. A Celebration of Life will follow at Pique Travel from 4-6 pm.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to N.C. Little Hospice, Edina MN, or Creighton Prep High school, Omaha NE.
