Obituary of Margaret "Maggie" Ingalls

Margaret "Maggie" Stewart Ingalls was born in San Bernardino, California on January 18th, 1949 and died on April 6th, 2025.

Maggie spent much of her childhood in Detroit Lakes Minnesota with her mother, grandmother and grandfather. She attended the University of North Dakota and then relocated to Minneapolis in 1978. She received her MBA at the University of St. Thomas in St. Paul.

Maggie's passion of learning was a common thread throughout her life as she researched and gathered information on anything and everything in her quest for knowledge and understanding. Maggie was a seeker of truth, conducting in depth research to support or challenge political and societal beliefs. She was unique in that, if the facts did not support her previous beliefs, she would reconsider the issue and move to a new understanding.

Maggie was an anthropologist at heart,. well-traveled, immersing herself in local cultures as she visited and resided in various parts of the world. Maggie was also an active participant in life, supporting her community by volunteering at VEAP, Loaves & Fishes, Meals on Wheels, Planned Parenthood, the Humane Society, and multiple presidential campaigns for the Democratic party. She was a catalyst at St. Nicholas Episcopal Church serving for years on their board and countless committees. She worked with the church to attract and immerse people from the Latino communities and was instrumental in helping to build their Spanish mass program.

Maggie was a best friend to many and was always there to support others through life's challenges. She was the first to arrive and the last to leave when a friend needed her. She had a broad eclectic circle of friends and loved to entertain, throwing countless parties where the conversation and wine flowed. She frequently opened her home and cabin to those in need of a haven during their transitions in life.

She was blessed by her sister, Georgia Hecock and her family the Linares', and her devoted friends. She also enjoyed the companionship of loyal dogs and took in many strays over the years. Her greatest joys in her life were her sons, John Stewart Linares and George Wesley Linares.

Maggie is preceded in death by her Son George Wesley Linares and survived by her son John Linares and her grandson George Linares.
