Obituary of Paul Arnold Vossen

Paul Arnold Vossen, of Spicer, MN, passed away on Thursday, September 13, 2018 at the age of 64. Arrangements handled by Minnesota Cremation Society. Paul was the oldest child of Arnie Vossen and Jarris Vossen both of Willmar, Minnesota. A member of the Willmar Class of 1972, Paul married his High School sweetheart, Deb Voorhees, in 1973. Paul and his wife Deb were true companions, best friends, soul mates in every sense. Their love was deep and unparalleled, everyone could see this from the time they met. Paul and Deb celebrated forty-five years together on September 2nd. Paul is preceded in death by his son, Will; his father, Arnold Vossen; and his father-in-law, George Voorhees. He is survived by his wife, Deb, his daughter Val (and Paul) Jeffery and grandchildren, Taylor and Lane Jeffery of St. Michael, MN. Also surviving are his mother, Jarres Vossen of Willmar, and mother-in-law, Del Voorhees of Spicer, brothers; Steve (and Julie) of Willmar, and Rick (and Joy) of Panama City, Florida, and his sister, Lori (and Joel) Jacobson of Willmar. He was also the big brother to the “Voorhees Girls.” His favorite job was teaching computer electronics for ten years at Dunwoody where he utilized his gift for gab and public speaking skills. He believed that continuing education was important and had a passion for knowledge. Being very well read, he loved sharing new information with family and friends. But no politics at the holiday table! Paul’s love of cars started as a child working with his dad at Town and Country Motors. Always the motorhead, he collected cars for restoration and added his artistic touch with custom painting and details on both cars and motorcycles. Together with his son Will, he won a first place honor at the Minneapolis Custom Bike Show for their custom built Harley. Paul never passed up a car or bike show. As a Jack-of-all-trades, Paul could fix and build most anything, priding himself on doing it himself. Family and friends never knew what they might be getting into when asked to assist in a “project.” Creative and ingenious - he was Pinterest before Pinterest was cool. Paul cherished music, taught himself to play piano, and inspired his grandchildren’s love of music. He loved being a grandpa to Taylor and Lane entertaining them with endless stories, drawings, and time together at the piano bench. Family gatherings and potluck dinners, often hosted at their home, were some of his favorite events. Always smiling, his laughter was infectious. Family and friends are invited to share hot dish and stories at a Celebration of Life from 4-6 p.m. on Saturday, September 22, 2018. Celebration held at Green Lake County Park 5 shelter. Camping is available if you want to stay for a bonfire. Let us leave you with a tune from one of his favorites: “I could be handy, mending a fuse When your lights have gone You can knit a sweater by the fireside Sunday mornings go for a ride Doing the garden, digging the weeds Who could ask for more Will you still need me, will you still feed me When I'm sixty-four” -Lennon and McCartney
