Obituary of Rodney LeRoy Vik, Sr.

It is with heavy hearts that Rod has passed peacefully and has entered Into eternal rest on March 27, 2025, at the age of 92.

Rod was born to Harold and Eva Vik of Hubbard, Mn. Where he was raised on the family farm, with 1 brother and 4 sisters. Rod enlisted into the Army after high school. He was the 485th engineer battalion as a Combat Engineer. Spent his time in Germany. Rod received an Honorable discharge in March 1956.

Soon after his return to Minnesota he met his wife Evon and was a devoted Husband to her for over 68 years.

Rod worked over 45 years for Visitation Convent and School. He always spoke so highly of his years there. Rod loved working in his garage at home building his wooden crosses and enjoyed creating furniture pieces for his wife and family. He also enjoyed his old trucks and fixing on his tractors. Taking a long drive and exploring was Rod's favorite, along side his wife Evon. He also looked forward to visits with his grandchildren.

Rod is survived by his wife Evon of 68 years, children Debra Lind, Rodney Vik JR. (Bobby) Kathy Hazard, Julie Vik. Grandchildren Tim Stelter, Jessica Hazard, Roeik, Allan Motz Jr. David Motz, Danielle Lind, Andrea Johnson. Great grandchildren Andi, Eva, Jacob, Jack, Marley. Great great grandson Oliver.

Rod was proceeded in death by his son Andrew and his parents Harold and Eva. Rod and Evon's loving little pup Elmo. Rod will always be remembered for his welcoming smile and practical jokes!

A private Christian service will be held in honor of Rod on Thursday April 10th, 2025. 

Please join us for Rod's celebration of life on Saturday April 12, 2025, at the Rosemount VFW 2625 120 Street West Post 9433.  Beginning at 1:00pm. We will have Military Honors for Rod at 3:00 pm. There will be food and snacks. Please bring your favorite " Rod story" as I know there are many!
