Alfonso Delgado Obituary

Alfonso “Al” Delgado, age 84, of Crystal, MN, passed away peacefully at North Memorial Hospital on March 11, 2025, after a brief illness. Born on March 5, 1941, to Tomasa (Flores) and Louis Delgado in Grand Island, NE. Al grew up with nine siblings on the family farm outside of Gibbon, NE.


 


After graduating from high school, he enlisted in the U.S. Navy and served honorably for four years. After being discharged from the service, he moved to Minneapolis, MN, where he met his former wife Connie (Scanlan) Delgado.


 


Al spent the majority of his career employed by the City of Bloomington (MN) working in maintenance and forestry. After retiring from the city, he worked for several years independently in grounds maintenance before retiring full-time.


 


Al is survived by his three children: Brian (Kim) Delgado, Maria (Rob) Ingalls, and David (Lisa) Delgado, as well as six grandchildren: Bennett and Sophia Delgado, Caden and Ella Ingalls, and Selena and Gabriella Delgado. He is also survived by siblings: Margaret Delgado, Charles (Angie) Delgado, Richard (Bahar) Delgado, Maggie Randolph, Katherine (Wayne) Smith and Tina Delgado, as well as many nieces and nephews.


 


Al was preceded in death by his father and mother, siblings Phyllis Delgado, Mary Zuniga and Michael Delgado, and grandson Lucas Delgado.


 


A funeral Mass and celebration of life will be held at 3:00 p.m., Friday, May 23, at St. Therese Catholic Church in Deephaven, MN. In lieu of flowers, the family requests any memorials be directed to the Animal Humane Society or Michael J. Fox Foundation.
