Obituary of Arlene Marie Genson
Arlene Marie Genson passed away peacefully at home with family by her side on Saturday, March 15 in Winona, MN at the age of 78.
Arlene was born April 9, 1946 in Amery, WI to Esther Mildred Worre (Spangberg) and Bernhardt Worre. Her family lived on a farm in rural Clear Lake WI. Arlene attended the Methodist Hospital Nurse of Schooling in Madison, WI to become a registered nurse. She worked a variety of places, retiring with her favorite group at Hearts of Gold Inc. in Shell Lake, WI.
On December 2, 1966 Arlene married Dean Manning Genson from Spooner, WI and they had 49 years together. Their greatest success was raising five children. Arlene, affectionally known as "Mumbie" was a devoted and loving mother. Her sacrifice, training and love will always be cherished. She was a runner, loved to play piano and enjoyed reading books. Her favorite flower was nasturtiums which she took delight in growing. On July, 8 1972 Mom was baptized as one of Jehovah's Witnesses for over 52 years of her life. Her love for Jehovah and Bible teachings inspired her to raise her family with them and also to share her faith with others in a volunteer ministry. How her faith fortified her in many ways and gave her hope and comfort even while she courageously coped with her ALS diagnosis. She did this both in English and was learning Kriol for the ministry in Belize. Arlene was known for her positive nature, resilience and caring spirit. She loved her spiritual family in so many congregations, notably Minot ND, Hayward, WI, Duluth, MN, Winona, MN, and Santa Elena, Belize. She was a loyal friend to many dear friends and will be so deeply missed!
Arlene is preceded in death by her husband Dean Manning Genson and Son Patrick Dean Genson. She is survived by daughters Erin Sanko (Cory), Ingrid Haslow, Britta Cummins (Cameron) and son Jesse Genson (Penny) and two incredible and dearly loved grandchildren Grey and Raina Sutherland (Clint).
Arlene Genson Memorial Service will be on Saturday, March 29th at 3 o'clock at the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah's Witnesses in Duluth, MN 4602 W Arrowhead Road, Duluth, MN 55811
