Obituary of José G. Cabrera

José G. Cabrera Sr., 73, of Superior, Wisconsin, passed away on March 17, 2025, surrounded by loved ones.

Born on October 15, 1951, in Guatemala City, Guatemala, José was the son of Gonzalo and Victoria Cabrera. As a young man, he pursued his education in California, where he met the love of his life, Marlene James. They married in 1974 and built a life together in Southern California, raising their son, José Jr., along with their godchildren, Jeff, Charlene, Ashley, and Angela. Later, José and Marlene made Superior, Wisconsin, their home, where he cherished raising their daughter, Jesika.

José’s life was defined by love, kindness, and generosity. He had an open heart and a helping hand for anyone in need. His sense of humor and unwavering faith brought warmth to those around him. Whether spending time with his grandchildren, working on DIY projects, or attending church, José found joy in the moments that made life meaningful. His unconditional love created a strong and close-knit family, a legacy that will endure in the lives of those who knew him.

José is survived by his son, José Cabrera Jr. (Tara), his daughter, Jesika Resendez (Rick), and his beloved grandchildren, Ricky, Tredyn, and Shya Resendez, as well as Faith Cabrera. He was preceded in death by his wife, Marlene.

A celebration of José’s life will be held on Saturday, March 29, 2025, at 12:00 PM at Northbay Community Church, 1316 E 5th St, Superior, WI 54880, with a reception to follow.

In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred to Northbay Community Church.
