Obituary of Mary Jane Paciotti

Mary Jane (Ruzich) Paciotti, 79, of Duluth Minnesota, passed away on March 12th 2025 with loved ones by her side.

Mary Jane was born May 22nd 1945 in Grand Rapids, MN to George and Bella (Milanovich) Ruzich. She graduated from Gilbert High School and received her Bachelor’s Degree in teaching from University of Minnesota, Duluth. 

After “chasing him her entire sophomore year,” on July 1st 1976 she married Louis Paciotti, her high school sweetheart. They settled in Duluth, raising their daughters. Mary Jane taught for 24 years within the Duluth Elementary School system until she retired in 2000. 

She will be remembered for her sense of humor, kindness and unconditional love. She especially enjoyed road trips with family and friends. Her endless creativity impacted those who crossed her path and left many in awe of her talents. She was one of a kind and will never be forgotten.

Mary Jane is survived by her daughter Penny Paciotti and grandson Tyler Paciotti Oka, daughter Gina Paciotti and son-in-law Pharith Kour, daughter Sara Paciotti and grandchildren Jameson & Vienna Nelson. 

Mary Jane was preceded in death by her husband, parents, daughter Mary Beth Paciotti and sister Georgiana Ruzich.

A special thank you to all the resident assistants at her assisted living who cared for, laughed with and enjoyed time with Mary Jane.

Mary Jane almost made it to 80 years old in hopes of “beating her husband and sister.” In honor of this, a Memorial Service will be held Saturday, May 17th at 11AM with an 80th Birthday Celebration immediately following at First Memorial Funeral Chapel: 1979 Old Hudson Road St. Paul, MN 55119
